Join JDRF Illinois on Wednesday, August 10th at Wrigley Field for Ron Santo Night. Before the game, the Chicago Cubs will unveil a statue in his honor outside of the ballpark. Ron's family and former teammates like Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, and Fergie Jenkins will be part of the unveiling ceremony. To help honor his JDRF legacy, the Cubs will donate $10 to JDRF from each on-line bleacher and terrace reserved outfield purchase when the special "JDRF" coupon code is used.

We hope you will join us as we officially kick-off the 2011 Walk season! Learn about new Walk tools, pick-up your Walk materials, network with other teams, swap fundraising ideas, and start the 2011 Walk season with a bang! Vicki Santo and Dave Kaplan of WGN Radio are scheduled to attend to help us kick-off this special year for the Walk in honor of Ron.
The Chicagoland 2011 Kick-Off Luncheon will be held on Friday, August 12th from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Hyatt O’Hare (9300 Bryn Mawr Ave. in Rosemont).

During the off season this past year my father began collaborating, with author Rich Wolfe, to write a book to be released in 2011. This was not going to be your typical sports book. It was going to be a unique and entertaining look into my father's so called "way of life"... a life that was filled with all the emotions of a dedicated Cubs fan. With the consent of our family, this book has been given a new life and a new perspective since my father's passing.
His dear friend and broadcasting partner, Pat Hughes, has graciously stepped in to continue what my dad began with Rich Wolfe months ago. With Pat's commitment and understanding to my father's legacy, he and Rich have gathered memories of his life through intimate conversations from our family, friends, luminaries, co-workers, strangers, and fans. I believe this book will make you laugh, cry, and most of all, smile.

The entire JDRF community is saddened by the news of Ron Santo's passing. To millions he was the face and voice of JDRF. For all he did to improve the lives of people living with diabetes, we owe it to Ron to keep working to find the cure to which he dedicated his life.
